At 18:19, electricity provider Elvia received an alert from the fire department about an issue at an outdoor electrical connection box near Strømmen Stadium. Morten Schau, Communications Chief at Elvia, confirmed to Dagbladet on Friday evening that the incident involved a faulty voltage transformer.

The Aftermath

The immediate consequence was a power outage affecting 8,335 homes across Oslo and the Romerike region. Rælingen municipality’s power outage notice stated that technicians were on-site, working to locate and rectify the issue. By 19:13, Schau confirmed that power had been fully restored to all affected households.

Elvia’s Response

Schau explained that the faulty transformer had been isolated and disconnected from their network to prevent further disruptions. "The problem has been contained, and the transformer is no longer part of our active network," he stated.

Customer Impact and Recovery

Carola Robles, who was at Strømmen Storsenter with her son when the outage occurred, shared her experience with Dagbladet. "We had just sat down to eat when the lights went out," she recalled. Despite the darkness, she noted that there was no panic, and center staff soon reassured customers that power should be restored within 30 minutes.

The outage also affected Lindeberg, with several residents reporting power cuts. Elvia later confirmed that Lindebergveien was among the affected areas. In total, four municipalities were impacted by the power outage.

Restoring Power

Thanks to Elvia’s swift response and repair efforts, power was restored to all affected areas within approximately one and a half hours, minimizing the impact on customers and businesses. Elvia encourages residents to stay informed by following their official updates and notifications for any future power outages or grid maintenance activities.
