KPK Names PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto as Suspect in Bribery Scandal with Harun Masiku
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Hasto Kristiyanto, the secretary-general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), as a suspect in a bribery case involving former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. The controversial allegations have surfaced post the swearing-in of the new KPK leadership.
In a statement issued on December 24, 2024, the KPK confirmed Hasto’s status as a suspect in a flagship case, with a case number of Sprin.Dik/153/DIK.01/12/2024. This development follows the commission’s recent exposé of the case on December 20, 2024.
The allegations suggest that Hasto, along with his alleged accomplice, Harun Masiku, offered bribes to Wahyu Setiawan in exchange for influencing the appointment of regional representatives in the regional legislative bodies (DPRD).
