Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., remains in a serious but stable condition following an incident at his Miami home on August 4, 2026. The 48-year-old is currently hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, a legal provision that allows for the temporary detention of individuals for psychiatric evaluation when they are experiencing a mental health crisis.
Perez Hilton Remains in Serious Condition Following Hospitalization
According to a statement released by his family, Hilton sustained injuries requiring surgery in the coming days after experiencing significant blood loss. His family emphasized that his treatment and recovery will be a long process. As of August 8, his communication has been extremely limited, restricted solely to immediate family, medical providers, and those directly involved in his care.
Circumstances of the Livestream Incident
Emergency services were dispatched to Hilton’s residence on August 4 after reports of a disturbing TikTok livestream in which the blogger appeared to be harming himself. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed they attended to a man livestreaming acts of self-harm.
Reports indicate that Hilton’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home only minutes before the broadcast began. When it became apparent that Hilton was experiencing a severe mental health crisis, his family members immediately fled the property to protect the children from trauma.
TikTok confirmed that its automated moderation systems flagged the content, though a moderator error caused a delay in the initial removal. The platform subsequently closed several subsequent streams within 90 seconds, banned the account, and alerted law enforcement.
Family Appeals for Privacy and Credibility
Hilton’s family has issued a firm request for the public and media to respect their privacy during this period. They have specifically asked members of the media, paparazzi, and content creators to stop lingering outside their home, following family members, or attempting to photograph Hilton’s children.

The family also requested that photo agencies refrain from purchasing or distributing any images of the children. They clarified that the only authorized and credible information regarding the blogger’s health will be published directly on his official website, PerezHilton.com.
Addressing the spread of information, the family stated, There are many false and inaccurate reports circulating in the media regarding Perez and the circumstances surrounding this situation.
His podcast co-host, Chris Booker, noted that even family members have struggled to receive updates due to the confidential security measures in place at the hospital.
The family expressed gratitude for the time Hilton was able to spend with his mother and sister, while reiterating that their current focus remains entirely on his treatment and recovery.
