Stara Zagora Man, 28, Accused of Raping and Assaulting Acquaintance
In a disturbing turn of events, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Stara Zagora has filed three charges against a 28-year-old man for the alleged rape and assault of a man. The victim, 32, was acquainted with the suspect and was invited to his residence on New Year’s Eve.
The victim was allegedly tied up with pork ties and beaten with a stick for several hours. The suspect is accused of performing sexual acts on the victim and threatening him with death if he reported the incident to the police.
The accused has been detained under a 72-hour preliminary arrest, and the Regional Prosecutor’s Office is set to request the court to impose a coercive measure of detention. The 28-year-old also faces charges for making a death threat.
This news comes on the heels of a recent report of a Bulgarian man being arrested in Germany for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
