Additional benefits for senior citizens under a new law, with no change required from pensioners

In January 2025, Ukraine’s pensioners who reach the milestones of 70, 75, and 80 years old will receive a boost to their monthly pensions. The increase is part of the new legislation, "On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Enhancement of Social Guarantees for Certain Categories of Persons", which aims to improve the quality of life for the country’s aging population.

To be eligible for the additional payments, a pensioner’s monthly pension must not exceed 10,340.35 Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH). The age-based supplements are as follows:

  • For individuals turning 70 and up to 75 years old: up to 300 UAH
  • For individuals turning 75 and up to 80 years old: up to 456 UAH
  • For individuals turning 80 years and above: up to 570 UAH

Besides the monthly supplements, pensioners will also benefit from a one-time payment of 1,000 UAH in January, pursuant to the ‘Support’ program. This payout will be distributed through the Ukrainian postal service, Ukrposhta.

There’s no additional action required from the pensioners to receive these benefits, as the Pension Fund of Ukraine will automatically apply the increases based on the records they have. The Fund has assured the public that all eligible pensioners will receive their increased payments starting from January 2025.
