Title: Emergency on Bergensbanen: Tog Blocks Track Between Myrdal and Hallingskeid, Hundreds Stranded

BERGENS Write: A train has come to a halt on the tracks between Myrdal and Hallingskeid on the Bergen Line, causing disruptions for passengers midweek.

Initial reports specify that the train is experiencing motor problems and is carrying around 100 passengers, according to information from Vy’s communication chief, Åge-Christoffer Lundeby. The train lacks heating and functional toilets, posing significant discomfort to stranded passengers.

Passengers Left in Limbo

Lundeby stated, "We are rushing to get them off the train," but when queried about a timeline, he was unable to provide one. Bane NOR‘s website simply notified users that the stretch is closed, hinting at an unsure duration of the disruption.

Rescue Efforts Underway

In an update, Bane NOR’s press representative, Gunnar Børseth, informed that a relief train has begun towing the affected train back towards Myrdal station, around 11:15. Despite the inconvenience, Lundeby assured, "This is not an ideal situation, but it’s manageable. We have resources to assist them."

Cold Weather Strain

Temperatures at Hallingskeid currently stand at around 11°C below freezing. Bane NOR, however, has initiated plans to transfer stranded passengers from another train at Geilo to Bergen via bus. Meanwhile, another train is being rerouted westbound.

Firsthand Accounts

Dagbladet’s reporter, Guro Havro Bjørnstad, heading from Bergen to Oslo, reported her train having been stationary at Myrdal station for two hours.
