Jalisco‘s 2025 Revalidation Process: Old Plates to Be Replaced, Verification Vouchers Issued

Residents of Jalisco have been notified of a significant change in the 2025 vehicle revalidation process. As part of the state’s efforts to enhance security and property certifications, vehicle owners will not only be required to renew their vehicle registration but also exchange their old license plates for new ones. This initiative is part of the "Paquetazo 3×1 Vehicular" program.

Impact on Vehicles Older Than 2019

The impact of this change will primarily affect vehicles that have not been updated to the more recent license plate models. Those with plate designs such as "Maguey," "Gota," "Minerva," and preceding models will have to replace their plates. However, owners of vehicles with "Collage" model plates issued after 2019 are spared from this requirement, as these plates already meet the necessary security standards.

Replacemat Process and Timeline

The replacement process will commence on February 1, 2025, with vehicle owners making the changes personally. The process will follow a calendar schedule based on the last digit of the vehicle’s identification number, similar to that of the vehicle inspection process. Each owner will receive a confirmation email after the successful exchange, valid for vehicle verification.

To obtain the new plates, individuals must present their old plates, a valid ID, the vehicle’s purchase invoice, and a current utility bill as proof of address. Owners should note the following collection schedule based on the last digit of their vehicle identification number:

  • 0: November-December
  • 1: January-February
  • 2: February-March
  • 3: March-April
  • 4: April-May
  • 5: May-June
  • 6: July-August
  • 7: August-September
  • 8: September-October
  • 9: October-November

Initiative Aims to Avoid Infractions and Fines

Jalisco’s secretary of Hacienda Pública, Luis García Sotelo, has assured that the primary objective of this initiative is not to raise revenue but to promote security and certitude among vehicle owners. The process aims to provide clear identification and contribute to the safety and regulation of vehicles across the state.
