Tgcom24 went to Lake Lecco to discover the new C3, tested in the 110 HP petrol engine with 6-speed gearbox. The first contact concerns a careful evaluation of the design. The front is all new, the design of the Led headlights and the V-shaped signature (standard on all versions), and the connection grille is also new. The side panel adds larger wheel arches and unpublished 16 and 17 inch alloy wheels, but above all they debut new Airbumps, with three separate protections at the bottom on the side. The body shop offers the customer an inexhaustible range of combinations: 97 colors!
The combination of these is then with two different internal environments and with the three productions Live, Feel and Shine, but there are also a couple of unreleased packages and the special series C-Series in the exclusive Deep Red color. As if to say, everyone can design their own Citroen C3, enhancing a personality that already excels in the B segment, either for the significant height of the hood (seen from the rear-view mirror it looks like a large SUV), or for the spacious interior and boot: 300 liters in normal configuration.
If we look at the interior and the equipment, we have further confirmation that the restyling has been profitable. Front parking sensors are now standard and the seats are now more comfortable, thanks to the soft foam under the fabric that qualifies the comfort at the level of the models Aircross (C3 and C5). Connected services are increasingly in demand, even in popular segments, and so here is the C3 welcoming the Connect Assist, which guarantees connected navigation and compatibility with Android and Apple smartphones. The 7-inch touch screen is perhaps a little too low and to manage it unfortunately it is necessary to look down, with the risk that the “Coffee Break Alert” (standard) will be triggered.
No news on the engine front, but on closer inspection, a precise strategic choice has also been made here. Citroen offers 5 petrol engines and only one diesel (a 100 bhp with 5-speed gearbox), suggesting that it will be petrol power that will dictate the law on the market. In our test we tested the PureTech 110 CV, a lively and sprinting 3-cylinder, but in the range there is also 83 HP which has the advantage of being able to be driven by new drivers.
In the mixed route between the hairpin bends of the lake, we appreciate the good suspensions, which are not the super adaptive of the C5 Aircross but absorb stresses well and avoid rolling, always transmitting an excellent feeling of safety. Price list from 14,100 euros, but the time is good to find the many promotions on the market, and so on the new C3 can go down to 9,900 euros with financing and 10,900 without.
