Anfang Februar ist ein 33-Jähriger nach einem medizinischen Notfall auf einer Polizeistation in Hannover im Krankenhaus gestorben. Das vorläufige Obduktionsergebnis entlastet die Polizisten.

Am Körper des Mannes wurden keine Hinweise auf körperliche Gewalt durch Polizeibeamte gefunden, bestätigte die Erste Staatsanwältin Kathrin Söfker dem NDR Niedersachsen. Der Mann sei an einer “zentralen Lähmung durch einen klinisch bedingten Hirnschaden in Kombination mit Multiorganversagen”, gestorben. Unklar sei weiter, ob der Mann unter Alkohol- oder Drogeneinfluss stand und ob er Vorerkrankungen hatte. Die Ermittlungen gehen weiter. Zuerst hatte die “Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung” (HAZ) berichtet.

Der Fall wird extern vom Zentralen Kriminaldienst Hannover untersucht. Das sei ein Standardverfahren, sagte Polizeisprecher Marcus Schmieder dem NDR Niedersachsen. “Die Ermittlungen zeigen derzeit, dass alle Maßnahmen der Polizeibeamten rechtmäßig waren”, so der Sprecher weiter. Der 33-Jährige war in der Nacht vom 1. Auf den 2. Februar in Polizeigewahrsam gekommen. Einsatzkräfte wurden laut Polizei wegen eines Streits und einer Sachbeschädigung in den Stadtteil Vahrenwald gerufen. Der Mann habe einen Platzverweis bekommen. Diesem sei er aber nicht nachgekommen, weshalb er in Gewahrsam genommen werden sollte. Dabei habe er Widerstand geleistet und sei leicht verletzt worden. Ein Arzt habe ihn untersucht und die Gewahrsamsfähigkeit festgestellt.

Mann wehrt sich und bekommt plötzlich Krämpfe

Am Morgen des 2. Februar gegen 6 Uhr sollte der 33-Jährige wieder entlassen werden. In der Ausgangsschleuse wehrte sich der Mann den Angaben zufolge erneut. Als Einsatzkräfte ihn aus der Schleuse schieben wollten, habe er plötzlich gekrampft und das Bewusstsein verloren. Die Polizei hat nach eigenen Angaben sofort mit Erste-Hilfe-Maßnahmen begonnen, bis Rettungskräfte eintrafen und den Mann in ein Krankenhaus brachten. Dort starb der Mann am 4. Februar.
