Indonesian Police‘s Ethics Commission Demotes Officer Involved in DWP 2024 Extortion Case

In a significant turn of events, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has held a disciplinary hearing for a police officer, initialed as ‘D’, who was allegedly involved in extorting attendees at the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2024. As a result, the officer has been demoted for a period of five years.

The decision was announced by Kombes Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago, the Head of Public Relations Division at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta. The officer, who was serving as the Chief of snacks at the Subdivision III of the National Narcotics Agency’s Regional Office in Metro Jaya, was found to have demanded money from attendees in exchange for their release after being arrested on suspicion of drug use.

Consequently, the officer has been issued a demotion of five years, effective immediately. Furthermore, he has been instructed to apologize verbally during the disciplinary hearing and in writing to the Police Chief. The officer will also undergo a month-long program focusing on spiritual, mental, and professional knowledge development.

In addition to these sanctions, the officer has been placed in a special patrol unit (Patsus) for 20 days, starting from December 27, 2024, until January 15, 2025. This decision was made following a thorough investigation involving the officer and four witnesses.

The disciplinary hearing was held today from 9:00 AM to 2:10 PM WIB at the Propam Division’s Meeting Room, 1st Floor of the TNCC Building at the National Police Headquarter. Brigjen Agus Wijayanto, the Karowabprof (Head of Professional Security Division) in the Propam Division, served as the Chairman of the Hearing Committee, with Kombes Heri Setyawan, the Head of Internal Ethics Division in the Propam Division, acting as Vice-Chairman.

The three members of the committee were AKBP Heru Waluyo, AKBP Rusdi Batubara, and AKBP Endang Werdiningsih, who served as the heads of their respective sub-divisions in the Propam Division.

The committee found that the officer had been involved in ensuring the safety of DWP 2024 attendees, including both WNI (Indonesian citizens) and WNA (foreigners), following reports of drug use. However, during the subsequent investigation, he demanded money in exchange for their release.

The officer’s actions violated several regulations, including the PP No. 1/2003 regarding the Dismissal of Police Officers, the PP No. 7/2022 regarding the Code of Ethics and the Ethics Commission of the Indonesian National Police. The officer has the right to appeal the decision.

The incident occurred during the DWP event at the JIExpo Kemayoran in Central Jakarta on December 13-15, 2024. A total of 18 officers from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Metro Jakarta Pusat District Police, and Kemayoran Police Sector were involved. As of January 8, 2025, 12 officers have already been subject to disciplinary hearings, and the process will continue until all 18 officers have been addressed.

A Jakarta driver with the license plate MA was brutally assaulted after confronting a motorcycle rider who was driving against traffic flow in Fatmawati, South Jakarta. The victim was beaten with a golf club and a wooden plank, resulting in severe injuries, including head lacerations and bruises on his right arm.

The incident transpired at 2:00 AM on Tuesday (7/1), with the victim being driven along the Fatmawati area from Blok M. Ade Ary Syam Indradi, the Metropolitan Police‘s General Crimes Director, provided a report, stating, "The victim asked the motorist to reverse and stop driving against the flow of traffic, but the motorist refused."

Ade Ary continued, "The motorist then called his friends, who used wooden planks and golf clubs to assault the victim. The victim sustained serious injuries to his forehead, upper back, and right arm."

Despite the assault, the victim managed to report the incident to the police. The case is currently under investigation at the Kebayoran Baru Police Station.

In a similar incident earlier this year, a Jakarta resident was attacked after asking a motorcycle taxi driver, who was carrying a passenger and driving against traffic, to observe traffic laws. The victim was beaten with a wooden plank and suffered severe injuries.

This unfortunate series of events underscores the importance of motorists adhering to traffic rules and the pressing need for a stronger enforcement of these regulations in the city.

The group was received by Brigadir Deri Andriani and Bripka Dedi Purwanto at Cinangka Police Station. Meta Description: Three members of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the shooting incident that killed a rental car boss and injured another on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road in Banten.

Jakarta, cnnindonesia.com — Three members of the Indonesian Navy (AL) have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a rental car boss on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road Rest Area KM 45 in Jayanti, Tangerang, Banten last Thursday. The navy personnel identified as Sertu AA, Sertu RH, and KLK BA were caught and are currently being held by authorities.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 2, left the rental car boss, identified by his initials IAR, dead at the scene. Another individual, identified as RAB, was injured in the shooting and is currently receiving treatment.

The Commander of the Naval Military Police (Puspom TNI AL), Laksma Samista, confirmed that the three suspects have been apprehended and are now considered suspects in the case. He also stated that the weapons used in the shooting were not homemade but rather issued by the navy as part of their official duties.

In a separate statement, the Commander of the Naval Operations Command (Pangkoarmada II), Laksdya Denih Hendrata, revealed that the three suspects were serving as Aide de Camp (ADC) or personal aides, which is why they had weapons with them at the time. Denih also noted that the suspects had been subjected to physical assault (keroyokan) by around 15 unknown individuals at the scene prior to the shooting incident.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) are currently leading the investigation into the case. In a press conference, the head of Polda Banten, Irjen Suyudi Ario Seto, explained that the incident was preceded by an alleged vehicle theft from a rental shop in Rajeg, Tangerang, involving a Honda Brio car bearing the license plate B-2669-KZO. The car was later resold several times, ending up in the possession of the three navy suspects.

During the investigation, Polda Banten discovered instances of unprofessional conduct by a member of the Cinangka Police, Brigadir Dery Andriani, who failed to respond to a report of the car theft and did not accompany the victim to secure and impound the vehicle. Polda Banten has since initiated disciplinary proceedings against Andriani and the Cinangka Police Chief, AKP Asep Iwan Kurniawan, for their lack of supervision.

The case is currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the motivations and circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

Fatal Rental Car Shooting: TNI AL Vows Transparency as Boss and 3 Members in Hot Seat

Subhead:
BIODIVERSITAS.COM, JAKARTA – The boss of a car rental service was fatally shot in cold blood at a toll rest area, with three members of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) now under investigation.

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) reassured the public that they will not cover up any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a car rental boss at a toll rest area. They maintain the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ and have pledged full transparency in the investigation.

Four suspects have been named in connection with the case, two of whom have been apprehended while the others remain at large. Intriguingly, three of these suspects are members of the TNI AL, adding complexity to the case.

The incident occurred when the car rental boss attempted to retrieve a stolen Honda Brio from the suspects. The victim had tracked the vehicle’s location using GPS, leading him to the rest area where the suspects were attempting to sell the car. A confrontation ensued, which culminated in a fatal shooting.

TNI AL commander, Laksamana Madya Denih Hendrata, conveyed the Force’s commitment to fair process, ensuring that no wrongdoing will go unpunished. The three naval members involved have been promptly taken into custody and are cooperating with the investigation.

Kapolda Banten, Irjen Suyudi Ario Seto, detailed the events leading up to the shooting. The ordeal began when one of the suspects, Ajat Supriatna, alias ‘AS’, rented the car but subsequently defrauded the owner. He sold the car to another suspect, IH, who then sold it to RH, ultimately ending up in the hands of a TNI AL serviceman named AA.

The car’s GPS, however, remained active, allowing the rental boss to track the stolen vehicle. He traced it to the rest area, where a quarrel broke out, leading to the fatal shooting. The victim, along with another person who tried to intervene, were both shot. The other person, a 59-year-old, survived the attack with injuries.

The Navy has been swift in their response, asserting that they will take stern action against any wrongdoing members. The public can expect a thorough and transparent investigation into this matter. The case continues to be investigated.

Inspector Reveals the Origin Story Behind a Deadly Shooting Following a Car Rental Dispute

by Chief Editor January 6, 2025
written by Chief Editor

Title: Banten Police Explain Origins of Shooting Incident That Killed Car Rental Boss on Tol Tangerang-Merak

In a press conference at the Koarmabar headquarters in Jakarta, Banten Police Chief Irjen Suyudi Ario Seto revealed that the shooting incident that claimed the life of a car rental boss on the Tangerang-Merak toll road began with the rental of a Honda Brio. The incident, which is being investigated under Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), was initially reported as a possible case of vehicle theft.

On 2 January 2025, Agam Muhammad Nasrudin, a resident of Taman Rajeg, reported the suspected theft of a Honda Brio from a rental shop in Rajeg. The vehicle, a Honda Brio in orange with the license plate B-2669-KZO, was rented by a resident of Pandeglang with the initials AS.

However, the rented car was later handed over to an individual with the initials IH, who also prepared fake KTP and KK cards in the name of AS. Subsequently, the car was sold to RH for IDR 23 million, who then sold it to a Navy officer with the initials SY. The car changed hands once more, being sold to AA, another Navy officer, for IDR 40 million.

Currently, four officers from Cinangka Police Station, including the head of the station, are being investigated by the Cilegon Regional Police over reports from the victim’s family.

In a separate statement, Navy Chief Laksdya TNI Denih Hendrata confirmed that three Navy personnel are involved in the incident. The personnel, initially reported to have been beaten at the toll road rest area, are now suspected to be connected to the shooting incident.

Navy Chief Denih also revealed that the incident stemmed from a dispute over the sale of a car, involving multiple transactions and fake documents. The Navy is cooperating with the Banten Police to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Ajat Supriatna and another individual in connection with the alleged theft of the rental car. They have been named suspects in the case. The investigation has identified two clusters of perpetrators: one involved in the car theft, and another connected to the shooting of the rental boss.

The Recidivism Challenge: Rethinking Rehabilitation Along Jakarta’s Toll Roads

Arrest Made in Brutal Highway Carjacking: Man Caught for Stabbings on Congested Toll Road

Article:

In a dramatic turn of events, Jakarta police have apprehended a man named M Ali Sanda (MAS), allegedly involved in a brazen carjacking incident that targeted a couple on the accessibility toll road of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Utara. MAS is believed to have played a pivotal role in threatening the victims with a sharp weapon.

"Our team has successfully apprehended one suspect, identified as MAS, who threatened the victims with a sharp object," said Kanit Jatanras of the Metro Jakarta Utara Police, AKP Lukman, in an interview on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

The heinous crime unfolded on Friday, January 3, in the evening, when traffic was heavily congested at the scene. MAS, along with five other accomplices, carried out the daring robbery.

MAS, authorities revealed, has a history of criminal behavior, being a repeat offender particularly in cases of stealing with violence, or ‘curas’.

"In our initial investigation, we found out that MAS is a recidivist, previously arrested by Kelapa Gading Police for a similar crime," AKP Lukman disclosed.

Currently, police are hot on the heels of the remaining five suspects who collaborated with MAS in this operation. Their modus operandi includes frequently targeting vehicles near the Plumpang Toll Road.

Operating When Traffic is Stalled

The mastermind behind the operation indicated that the group often targeted vehicles on Jakarta’s toll roads, specifically when traffic was heavy. Before carrying out their crimes, the gang would gather at a designated point near the location.

"They gather around before the incident, waiting for a suitable moment when traffic is heavily congested. Upon identifying an opportunity, they approach vehicles with open windows," AKP Lukman revealed to journalists.

The gang used sharp weapons, called ‘celurit’, to intimidate drivers and passengers into surrendering their valuables.

"Once they have identified an ideal target, they swiftly approach, armed with their weapons, and demand the handover of the victims’ belongings," he added.

So far, two vehicles have been reported as victims of the robberies. On Friday, a couple was targeted by the armed gang in the midst of the heavy congestion.

"The group encircled the couple’s car and attempted to assault the wife through the passenger side," reported Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Chief of the Metropolitan Jaya Police Public Relations Bureau.

In a separate incident, a lone driver was also targeted by the gang as he was exiting the toll road. The thief demanded money from the driver, snatched his bag, and además inflicted injuries to his back before fleeing the scene.

This capture brings some relief for Jakarta’s road users, but police caution that the hunt for the remaining suspects is ongoing. They urge everyone to stay alert and remain safe while navigating the city’s toll roads.

Police Arrest One Suspect, Another at Large

Headline: Brutal Daylight Robbery on Jakut Toll Road: Police Hunt Down Six Perpetrators

Subheading: A well-coordinated gang of robbers targets couples stuck in traffic on the busy Jakarta road, leaving two vehicles looted and one man injured.

Article:

In a shocking daylight heist, a group of six robbers targeted couples stuck in traffic on the Jakarta Toll Road, specifically targeting the North Jakarta area, also known as Jakut. The police have since arrested one suspect, M Ali Sanda, and are hunting down his five accomplices.

The scheme, unearthed by Jakarta Metro Police, was meticulously planned with the robbers congregating around Tollway Access Point (TAP) Plumpang before making their move. Speaking to reporters, the Head of Jakarta Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Fauzan Yonnandi, illustrates the gang’s strategy: "They would gather around the target area and wait for traffic to build up. Once they spotted a vehicle with open windows, they’d pounce."

Equipped with deadly celurit knives, the robbers threatened their victims and made off with stolen goods from at least two vehicles. On Friday evening (3/1), a couple was ambushed while stuck in traffic. The robbers initially targeted the man but quickly turned their attention to his wife when she tried to shield him.

In the second incident, another unsuspecting driver was targeted moments before exiting the toll road. He was relieved of a sum of money after being threatened at knifepoint.

The arrested suspect, M Ali Sanda, is reportedly the mastermind behind the operation, wielding the knife during the attacks. Police are now on the hunt for his five associates: Aji, Anggi, Tedi, Amat (also known as Acong), and Cipuy.

Kompolres Metro Jakarta Utara’s chief, AKBP Ahmad Fuady, confirmed the arrest and expressed resolve in capturing the remaining suspects: "We’ve apprehended the main culprit, Ali Sanda, who carried the knife. We’re still in pursuit of the other five suspects."

The incidents have been reported to North Jakarta Metro Police. Further investigations are ongoing.
