Kazan Airport Suspends Operations
On Tuesday, civilian flights at Kazan Airport were temporarily suspended, affecting both arrivals and departures. "All flights will be delayed," the airport administration announced on its website, adding that the restrictions would last until 6:00 p.m. local time. The administrators did not provide further details about the cause of the disruption.
Other Airports Experience Similar Incidents
In the past week, several other Russian airports have reported temporary suspensions of flight operations. These include airports in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Voronezh, among others. Some of these incidents involved restrictions-lasting minutes to hours, while others, like the one at Voronezh, led to a full-day closure.
Ukraine‘s Drone Activity Blamed for Russian Airport Disruptions
According to reports, Ukraine’s increased use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) along the Russian border has contributed to these flight disruptions. On April 11, St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport faced two separate instances of flight restrictions due to suspected Ukrainian drone activity in the area.
Ukraine Launches Offensive in Kursk Region
Meanwhile, in a significant military development, Ukraine’s armed forces have reportedly launched a large-scale offensive in the direction of the Russian city of Kursk. Ukrainian military spokesman, Brigadier General Oleksandr motiv revealed the operation, stating that it is aimed at regaining control over the city and surrounding areas. However, the Ukrainian military has not yet provided specific details about the progress of this offensive.
