Three Boys Injured in Firework Explosion in Cuijk

In a night filled with intended festivities, three boys found themselves injured after a firework mishap in Cuijk. The incident occurred around sunset on Tuesday when a group of youths were setting off fireworks on and around the Vierlanderdreef.

The police report suggests that the boys may have attempted to ‘stab’ a shell, a common practice among teenagers during New Year’s celebrations. When the shell didn’t initially explode, the trio returned to the dud. Unfortunately, this was when the firework detonated.

Severely Injured

One of the boys suffered severe injuries to his abdomen and face. He was promptly transported to the hospital in an ambulance, and is reported to be out of immediate danger. The other two victims sustained face injuries and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Throughout the evening, police received reports of youth setting off and throwing fireworks at each other. Authorities responded with multiple units, reportedly seizing fireworks at the scene.

Illegal Fireworks Seized

Following the incident, police investigated the site of the explosion and searched individuals for illegal fireworks. They allegedly seized bags containing illegal shells, cobras, and even decorative fireworks.
