Three Injured in Severe Car Crash on Schipholweg Near A9, Exit Closed

Breaking News: Triple Injury Crash on Schipholweg in Lijnden

Three individuals suffered injuries, two severely, in a morning collision involving two vehicles on the Schipholweg in Lijnden. The incident occurred at a traffic light intersection around 6:00 AM, with police investigating the cause.

A photographer on the scene reported that the crash happened at the intersection of the Schipholweg and the Amsterdamse Baan, near the A9 on-ramp. The crash led to the closure of the Raasdorp exit on the A9 towards Badhoevedorp, as well as a stretch of the N232 heading towards Amstelveen, near the Schuilhoeve industrial area.

One of the vehicles crashed into a traffic light pole and came to a halt. Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutters to free the occupants, removing both the roof and doors. The other involved car sustained significant damage, with the driver escaping with minor injuries, according to police.

The exact circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear, though it comes amidst a national weather warning for dense fog. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issued a code yellow fog warning for much of the country until 10:00 AM today, with visibility dropping to less than 200 meters in some areas. Motorists are advised to drive more slowly and maintain greater distances from other vehicles.

Other incidents were reported throughout the night and early morning across the Netherlands, including a car veering off the N391 near Roswinkel in Drenthe and a collision on the A1 near Holten. It remains unclear if these incidents were also caused by the fog.
