Title: Santa Tracking 2024: Where’s Santa Now? NORAD‘s 69-Year Legacy Continues
In the spirit of the season, NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) is once again tracking Santa’s journey around the world, marking the 69th year of this beloved tradition. As families gather to celebrate, Santa Claus has embarked on his annual mission to deliver gifts to boys and girls worldwide.
A Brief History of Santa Tracking
The tradition of NORAD tracking Santa began in 1955 when a local advertising campaign in Colorado Springs misprinted the phone number of Santa Claus. Instead of reaching the North Pole, misguided children found themselves connected to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD), NORAD’s predecessor. Colonel Harry Shoup, CONAD’s commander-in-chief, understood the children’s disappointment and assured them that Santa was indeed on his way. When more calls flooded in, Shoup cabelefs noted, "I think we might just as well go ahead and do it. So, we opened the Lawrence Day Room, which was our operations room, to the public, and set up a hotline."
Santa’s Message for 2024
Before setting off, Santa shared a heartwarming message from his North Pole address: "Hello everyone, it’s wonderful to be here on this special day. I know it’s challenging to be good all the time, even I’m not perfect! Just try to be the best version of yourself, and don’t worry too much about the presents. Remember, it’s the thought that counts. So enjoy the moments with your family and friends, and let’s all spread some joy this Christmas."
