Crackdown on Illegal Travel-Agent Syndicates
To combat organized human trafficking and illicit travel networks, the Ministry of External Affairs has utilized digital tracking systems. Jaishankar stated that a total of 3,505 unregistered agents were notified on the official eMigrate portal through October 2025.
“As and when complaints against illegal agents or dubious firms luring Indian nationals with false recruitment offers are received, such matters are referred to state police,” Jaishankar informed Parliament. Alongside law enforcement referrals, the Ministry issues public advisories through social media and the eMigrate portal to warn citizens about fake job rackets.
Operation Checkmate and Indian Truckers in the US
Legislators also raised concerns regarding Indian truckers facing legal action in the United States. Minister of State (MEA) Kirti Vardhan Singh confirmed that the government is actively communicating with US authorities to verify the identities and particulars of affected individuals.
Singh noted that 30 Indian nationals were among 52 individuals arrested during Operation Checkmate, an enforcement action conducted in Arizona last May. Those detained face subsequent deportation proceedings.
