Will Smith to Perform in Norway for the First Time
Hollywood superstar Will Smith (56) is set to headline the Ypsilon festival in Drammen this August, marking his first-ever concert in Norway. The global icon, known for his iconic roles in both music and film, will take the stage at the intimate festival, which is part of the annual Elvefestivalen in Drammen.
Smith’s Musical Journey
Smith started his career as a rapper in the late 80s and has since released four studio albums. After a decade-long hiatus, he made a comeback last year with the single "You Can Make It," which addresses resilience and overcoming challenges. The track was performed at the BET Awards, where Smith also received a standing ovation.
From Oscar Scandal to Comeback
In 2022, Smith made headlines when he walked on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars, an incident that led to a ten-year ban from the awards show. However, Smith has since returned to the spotlight, focusing on his music and acting career. His latest film, "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," was released last year.
Smith in Norway
This will not be Smith’s first visit to Norway. In 2009, he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, attended the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo. The couple also discussed their private life during an interview with VG.
Ypsilon Festival
Ypsilon is an annual music festival held in Drammen as part of the Elvefestivalen. The festival features a variety of artists and offers a unique, intimate experience for attendees. This year’s lineup includes Sigrid, Marstein, Emma Steinbakken, Ka2, Bausa, PandaPanda, Moyka, Rakkere, Køde, and Den BB, in addition to Will Smith.
