In a shocking turn of events, a woman gave birth to a baby girl on the streets of Trois-Rivières before abandoning her newborn, investigators from the Centrale de police du Québec (CPQ) have confirmed. The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, October 18, leaving locals and authorities alike scrambled to find the mother and ensure the baby’s well-being.
The baby girl, who was discovered wrapped in a blanket in the snow, was quickly rescued by a passerby who immediately alerted emergency services. The newborn was then rushed to the Centre Hospitalier Affilié de Trois-Rivières (CHATR) for treatment and is now in stable condition. The sergeant also emphasized that leaving a newborn is not onlydangerous but also illegal, citing Quebec’s provincial law that allows safe abandonment of newborns within 72 hours of birth in certain designated locations without fear of criminal prosecution. “We want to prevent another tragedylike this from happening again,” he added, appealing to the community for any information regarding the mother’s identity or whereabouts.
