Alkmaar Police Arrest Future Drivers for Drug Usage Ahead of Practical Exam
ALKMAAR, Netherlands — A concerning incident occurred today as two prospective drivers and a driving instructor were apprehended at the CBR (Road Traffic Administration) center in Alkmaar after testing positive for drug use.
"Finding out that these individuals seemed to have gotten behind the wheel under the influence is indeed cause for concern," stated a police spokesperson. All three tested positive for THC, the active substance found in cannabis or marijuana. "Unbeknownst to many, consuming cannabis in the evening can still leave traces in one’s system the following day," the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson was particularly surprised that a driving instructor had operated a vehicle under the influence. One of the positive learners was riding shotgun with the instructor, while the third learner was driving another vehicle. It remains unclear whether these learners were attempting to take their practical exam today, potentially securing their driver’s license.
"The fact that they were indeed driving," was the only detail the police could confirm. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the significance of responsible driving practices, even when learners believe they are not impaired.
