Den Bosch Bus Torched in Apparent Targeted Attack
A logistics van sustained an extensive fire in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Tuesday night, with no reported injuries.
Local authorities received a call at 11:58 PM reporting a blazing vehicle on the Leyhof Street in the city’s eastern district. Surveillance footage from neighborhood residents showed a cyclist approaching the van, seemingly tossing an object onto it, before a flare-up was observed, according to the police. The cyclist promptly fled the scene.
The vehicle, a delivery van, was found to be owned by a roofing contractor who had previously been the victim of similar attacks. Previous incidents occurred on February 21, August 24, and August 27 this year, as reported by Omroep Brabant.
The ‘s-Hertogenbosch police are currently investigating the case, treating it as suspected arson. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Dakdekkers Conflict Claims Another Victim
This latest incident is part of an ongoing turf war between roofers in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. This year alone, over 20 explosions have been reported, targeting both vehicles and homes. The source of the conflict remains unclear.
In October, a roofer told Omroep Brabant that some contractors are using explosives to drive out competitors, allowing them to take over jobs.
A secret police report released earlier this month, sourced from Omroep Brabant, suggests more nefarious activities are at play. The report blamed the ‘dakdekkerswar’ on dishonest practices, low-quality work, violent sales tactics, and money laundering.
In November, a father and son, aged 43 and 22, were arrested in connection with potential involvement in these explosions. Their current status is unknown.
