In a significant development, Argentina’s government has announced that a foreign enterprise will commence operating ramp services at Ezeiza International Airport, introducing much-needed competition to the current marketplace. This move is part of the ongoing aeroportuaria deregulation spearheaded by the Casa Rosada.
Franco Mogetta, Argentina’s Transport Secretary, revealed that the first new handling company of the year, Air Class Cargo S.A., an Uruguayan entity, will provide a comprehensive range of services, including passenger assistance, baggage handling, and aircraft maneuvering.
Mogetta lauded the deregulation, stating, "We’ve ended monopolistic distortions like those held by Intercargo, paving the way for enhanced competitive offerings to users."
Initially, Air Class Cargo S.A. will operate at Ezeiza, but plans to expand services to other Argentine airports in the future.

The decision, published in the Boletín Oficial through Disposition 19/2024, leverages the Reglamento de Acceso a los Mercados Aerocomerciales decree of July 8, 2024, opening Argentine air markets to domestic and international players.
This action follows November’s conflict with airline unions, prompting the Government to deregulate ramp services after surprise strikes by Intercargo employees disrupted operations and caused chaos for hundreds of passengers.
Under the new rules, aeroportuaria service authorizations will be valid for 15 years and automatically renewable, given adherence to operational safety standards.
