Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — In a significant shake-up following the high-profile extortion case involving partygoers at the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2024 from Malaysia, Chief of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Irjen Karyoto, has appointed three new heads of sub-directorates in the Narcotics Crime Investigation Directorate (Ditresnarkoba).
The appointments, outlined in a telecommunication letter numbered ST/429/XII/KEP.2024 signed by kara SDM Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Muh. Dwita Kumu Wardana on December 25, 2024, are as follows:

Kompol Bambang Prakoso has been assigned as the new Kasubdit I Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, replacing AKBP Bariu Bawana who was previously removed from duty pending investigation.

Kompol Ari Galang Saputro, formerly stationed at the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Divisi Humas Mabes Polri), has been appointed as the new Kasubdit II Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, taking over from AKBP Wahyu Hidayat who also stepped down during the investigation.
- Kompol Ade Candra, also from the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Divisi Humas Mabes Polri), has been appointed as the new Kasubdit III Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, replacing AKBP Malvino Edward Yusticia who was also removed from duty.
Previously, Kadiv Propam Polri Irjen Abdul Karim disclosed that a total of 45 Malaysian nationals were reported to have fallen victim to extortion during the DWP 2024 event. The total value of the seized evidence in this case amounts to approximately IDR 2.5 billion. Furthermore, the suspects have reportedly been remanded at the Propam Polri detention facility.
Karim also noted that the investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the extortion incidents, as the perpetrators were from different units within the police force. It remains unclear whether the officers coordinated their actions or acted individually according to their respective units.
The investigation, Karim emphasized, is still in the fact-finding stage, and it is crucial to uncover the role of officials from various levels, including the police station (Polsek), regional police (Polres), and the provincial police headquarters (Polda).
