Super Air Jet has issued an apology to all its customers following the significant delay of flight number IU-914 on the Jakarta-Pekanbaru route on December 26, 2024. The delay, which lasted approximately 2 hours, left passengers stranded in the aircraft cabin. The airline’s decision to replace a critical aircraft component, prioritizing safety and comfort, was the cause behind the disruption.
Director Ari Azhari of Super Air Jet explained that the initial estimated time for the component change was 30 minutes but took longer to ensure maximum safety. "The original estimate was around 30 minutes, but additional time was needed to ensure optimal safety," Ari confirmed in a statement on Friday, December 26.
The delay began after boarding was completed at 18:38 WIB, with all passengers already seated in the cabin. The need to repair a critical component emerged, leading to the start of the replacement process at 19:15 WIB. The process concluded at 19:56 WIB, and the aircraft was cleared for takeoff at 20:04 WIB.
To expedite the finalization process and prevent further discomfort, passengers remained in their seats throughout the delay. Ari expressed gratitude for the passengers’ understanding and patience during the incident.
The flight eventually departed safely and arrived in Pekanbaru on the same day. Super Air Jet remains committed to maintaining the safety and comfort of its passengers, and it appreciates the cooperation and understanding of its customers in such situations.
