Ukrainians Face Challenges in Claiming Winter Support Funds: Bank Recipients
In our ongoing series addressing issues faced by our readers while claiming their 1000 hryvnia ‘Winter Support’ funds, we turn our attention today to those receiving this assistance through their banks.
Q: Do I need to pay for a ‘National Cashback‘ card?
Sergiy Ivanovich from Kharkiv wrote to us, saying he wanted to obtain a physical plastic card for the ‘National Cashback’ program at his local Oschadbank branch. However, he was told that issuing such a card would cost him 100 hryvnia.
We contacted the bank’s call center for clarification. A representative informed us that Oschadbank offers the ‘National Cashback’ card for free to individuals aged 65 and over, and those with disabilities.
If bank personnel demand payment, ask to speak to the branch manager or call the hotline at 0 (800) 210-800.
Q: What if I can’t visit the bank branch?
Sergiy also tried to obtain a ‘National Cashback’ card for his elderly mother, who is too ill to visit her local branch and unable to use mobile apps. He had a notarized power of attorney but was refused service. However, if your elderly or disabled family member is a PrivatBank client, they can order a physical card by phone. Dial 37-00 to reach their hotline.
Stay tuned for more updates on navigating your ‘Winter Support’ funds.
