If someone from China has a high temperature, we’d immediately think about HMPV and direct them for a thorough check. We’re always ready to handle tour groups from China."

This prepararation echoes Bali’s previous response to the MonkeyPox threat, where African nationals were closely monitored at the airport. Anom further confirmed, "Our focus is on China, but know that HMPV is not fatal. The World Health Organization (WHO) hasn’t declared it a global health emergency yet."

The Dinkes team is coordinating with the Bali Quarantine Office (BBKK), ensuring that suspected cases will be referred to Sanglah General Hospital if necessary. Anom also encourages the public not to panic but to maintain good health habits, including eating nutritiously and using masks when ill or coughing.

Though HMPV is typically mild, severe cases can occur in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Bali’s proactive stance aims to prevent any potential outbreak and safeguard both locals and tourists.

In a significant bust, the Directorate of Cyber Crime Investigation (Ditressiber) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has uncovered a case involving online-aided swinger parties held in both Jakarta and Bali. The activities, which involved the exchange of partners, were facilitated through a website.

"Our investigation revealed the distribution of electronic documents via a website containing invitations to sex parties and spouse swapping," explained Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, during a press briefing on Thursday (9/1).

The operation led to the arrest of a couple— a 39-year-old man with the initials IG and a 39-year-old woman with the initials KS— residents of Badung, Bali. The pair had been organizing and distributing invitations to the events, predominantly targeting residents of Bali and Jakarta.

The investigation revealed that the website in question, named "SWXXX.com," was used to host the invitations. Participants were allegedly recruited for free, with no monetary exchange involved. However, Indradi noted that the parties were not without profit—videos of the events were recorded secretly and sold without the consent of the participants.

Worryingly, authorities suspect that as many as 10 such events had already taken place—eight in Bali and two in Jakarta. The arrested couple is currently undergoing intense interrogation at the Cyber Crime Unit of Polda Metro Jaya.

The emerging details of this case serve as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in the shadows of the internet. As technology continues to evolve, so too do the methods by which unscrupulous individuals exploit vulnerabilities for personal gain.
