Couple Ambushed by Armed Robbers on Jakarta Toll Road
A distressing incident occurred on Jakartan roads when a husband and wife duo (pasutri) were held up by a gang wielding sharp weapons while stuck in a traffic jam on the Tanjung Priok Access Toll Road in Jakarta Utara. One of the perpetrators, M Ali Sanda, has since been apprehended by police.
The event took place on Friday, March 1st, at around 6:40 PM local time (WIB). The victims, initially traveling in a pick-up truck with their initials IBA (52) and AR, were stopped in their tracks by the unexpected ambush.
Trapped in Traffic, Ambushed
As they waited in the queue to enter the toll gate, six armed assailants approached the couple, brandishing celurit knives. "Suddenly, while they were in their car, they were approached by around six unknown individuals carrying weapons," recounted Jakarta Utara Metro Police Chief Commissioner Ahmad Fuady in his statement on Saturday, March 2, 2025.
Stolen Phone, Assaulted Wife
One of the robbers, later identified as Ali Sanda, lunged at the vehicle, brandishing his knife and snatching the victim’s phone. Another assailant attempted to attack the woman, who was seated in the passenger seat. "He directly approached the victim’s car and brandished a knife, attempting to grab the phone and the victim’s bag, which was on the left side of the front passenger seat," he explained. "Another attacker tried to assault the victim’s wife from the left side of the car."
With their crime completed, the assailants fled the scene, leaving the couple startled and distressed. The husband suffered a minor injury to his finger in the attempt to fend off the attackers.
Police Swift Action, Main Suspect in Custody
In response to the incident, authorities swiftly moved to apprehend the culprits. M Ali Sanda was identified as the main suspect and is now in police custody at the Jakarta Utara Metro Police Station. He has been officially named a suspect in the case.
"Ali Sanda has been named as the main suspect," Commissioner Ahmad Fuady confirmed. "We are currently intensifying our investigations to track down the remaining perpetrators, namely Aji, Anggi, Tedi, Amat, also known as Acong, and Cipuy."

Sanda was apprehended following an extensive investigation that also includes the hunt for other members of the gang, namely Aji, Anggi, Tedi, Amat alias Acong, and Cipuy. Police are still conducting further rozp magazines to gather more information.
Robbery During Traffic Congestion
The robbery occurred on Friday, January 3, in the afternoon as the couple was stuck in traffic. The suspects, armed with sharp weapons, targeted the couple’s vehicle. Six of the perpetrators approached the victim’s car, attempting to attack the woman.
In the chaos, the suspects managed to snatch the couple’s phone before fleeing. The victim sustained a minor injury on their finger as a result of the incident. The total estimated loss is around IDR 1.5 million. The case has been reported to the Jakarta Utara Metro Police.
In the same time period and location, the same group targeted a motorcycle rider. The assault occurred when the rider was about to exit the toll road. One of the suspects demanded money from the rider, and was shortly joined by three other accomplices armed with sharp weapons. They forcefully took the rider’s bag, which contained personal documents and vehicle data. The rider sustained a laceration on their back during the attack.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, and police are working to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The victim, a 52-year-old man identified by his initials IBA, was caught off guard when a group of six assailants wielding sharp weapons surrounded his car at around 4 PM on Friday, January 3. The attackers, who had been lying in wait, pounced on the unsuspecting couple as they sat helplessly in the congested traffic at Km 13 of the toll road.
"Upon arriving at the scene, the victim found themselves trapped in traffic, and that’s when the six assailants carrying sharp weapons suddenly approached their car from the side and began attacking my client’s wife," stated Chief Inspector Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Head of Public Relations for the Metropolitan Jakarta Police.
The armed gang attempted to rob the couple, making off with the victim’s phone. In the commotion, the man suffered lacerations on his right index finger, while his wife sustained more severe injuries. The total damage is estimated to be around IDR 1.5 million.
The authorities were promptly alerted, and North Jakarta Metro Police are currently investigating the case. Police advise drivers to remain vigilant, especially during congestion, and to keep their car windows closed to prevent such incidents.

"Ada 30 toko, rencananya Master Tarno itu sebagai brand ambassador Idol Mart, iya, sulap dia," tambah Slamet.
Agar kondisinya terus membaik, Pak Tarno secara rutin menjalani terapi satu minggu sekali. "Kalau rumah sakit seminggu sekali (terapinya). Alhamdulillah, (progresnya) bagus," ungkap Slamet.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Pak Tarno juga mengaku akan berjualan trompet menjelang tahun baru. Alasan Pak Tarno berjualan trompet adalah karena disukai banyak anak-anak. Selain trompet, Pak Tarno juga tetap melanjutkan usaha berjualan ikan hingga balon.
"Iya (mau jualan trompet)," ujar Pak Tarno.
