Uncontainable Fake Currency: UIN Makassar’s Growing Counterfeit Concern

Headline: UIN Makassar Counterfeit Money Case: Police Struggle to Control Spread, 19 Suspects Named

Subheadline: Police admit difficulty in controlling the circulation of near-perfect counterfeit money created at UIN Alauddin Makassar’s campus.

Article:

Makassar, CNN Indonesia — The Chief of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Irjen Pol Yudhiawan Wibisono, has admitted that counterfeit money created at the campus of the Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Makassar is proving difficult to control. The counterfeit currency, which closely resembles genuine notes, has started circulating in society.

"We’ve lost control of the money circulating now," Yudhiawan said on Monday (30/12).

Yudhiawan warned that those who receive the counterfeit money stand to lose out, as it cannot be exchanged for genuine currency. "If found in the field, it can’t be exchanged because it’s counterfeit," he added.

The police chief revealed that the counterfeit money, designed by UIN Alauddin Makassar students, is nearly indistinguishable from real currency. "It’s almost perfect, and when we use ultraviolet light, it shows signs of forgery," he explained.

However, the counterfeit notes can fool members of the public who are not trained in spotting them. "To the average person, it seems like real money, but it’s actually counterfeit," Yudhiawan said.

A total of 19 suspects have been named in the case involving the counterfeit money factory at UIN Alauddin Makassar. Two more are listed as ‘Wanted’ (DPO). The main suspect is a prominent businessman and politician with the initials ASS.

After 12 hours of interrogation at the Gowa District Police, ASS was officially named a suspect and later transferred to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar due to health concerns, including a history of heart and prostate issues.

Medan Mugging Goes Viral: Medical Student‘s Rough Relationship with Street Vendor

Medan, Indonesia – A medical student, identified only by her initial ‘F’, has been returning to her university after spending time at Pirngadi General Hospital (RSUD Pirngadi Medan) following an alleged assault on a roti bakar street vendor in Medan. Her return to campus in late July has raised questions about the incident and its aftermath.

According to Gibson Girsang, the Head of Public Relations at RSUD Pirngadi Medan, F was sent back to her university due to interpersonal issues with her peers. While he didn’t elaborate on the specifics, Girsang confirmed that the decision was made in late July.

The incident occurred on December 19, when F allegedly assaulted Fitra Samosir, a 26-year-old roti bakar vendor. The incident took place at Fitra’s workplace on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan in Medan Timur.

Earlier in the day, F had purchased a chocolate cheese roti bakar from Fitra. However, later that evening, F returned and threw two leftover pieces of roti bakar at Fitra, who was left with lacerations on his hand and forehead. Fitra later filed a police report (STTLP/B/3609/XII/2024/SPKT) detailing the incident.

This is not F’s first run-in with the law. In 2023, she was involved in a dispute with a couple in the parking lot of RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan over a parking spot, which was later resolved through mediation.

Medan Police Chief Kombes Gidion Arif Setyawan confirmed receiving Fitra’s report and stated that the police are currently investigating the incident. Gidion also revealed that he had spoken with Fitra via video call and observed bruising around his eye.

As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how this will impact F’s academic career and her relationship with her peers. Follow us for updates on this developing story.

A Young Thai Influencer Dies After Social Media Drinking Challenge

In a tragic turn of events, a young Thai influencer, Thanakarn Kanthee, has passed away after participating in a social media drinking challenge. The 21-year-old, also known for selling flowers, died early Thursday morning (Dec 26, 2024) at a local hospital after consuming 350ml of whiskey as part of a paid challenge.

Videos circulating online show Kanthee drinking the whiskey amidst cheering crowds, with bystanders recording the incident on their phones. According to the Bangkok Post, after completing the challenge, Kanthee appeared ill and complained of nausea before being rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his condition.

Raised in a poor area of Bangkok after his parents’ separation, Kanthee started selling flowers at the age of seven to support himself and his grandmother. His social media posts reflected his struggles, with one stating, "I’m ready to be bullied and insulted just to get a little money from the rich to support my family."

The incident has sparked outrage among Thai netizens who are calling for an end to such dangerous challenges. Some have expressed concern for Kanthee’s grandmother’s well-being, while others have begun fundraising to support her.

Medical professionals warn that binge drinking can lead to alcohol poisoning, causing symptoms such as confusion, vomiting, slow or uneven breathing, pale or blue-tinged skin, low body temperature, and unconsciousness. Savage Attack: Affluent Sister Abuses Younger Sibling’s Financial Records

Title: Gruesome Poisoning: Woman Faces 15 Years or Death for Murdering Teenage Sister-in-Law

In a chilling act of barbarism that rocked the city of Palembang, Rika Amalia (19) is under arrest for poisoning her teenage sister-in-law, AN (13), with a deadly concoction of jamu and potassium carbonate (potas). The heinous crime has left Palembang residents in shock and authorities pushing for the maximum penalty.

Rika’s brutal act unfolded on the afternoon of December 18, 2024, at a residence in Kelurahiran 5 Ulu, Seberang Ulu I, Palembang. She challenged AN to a drinking contest, promising Rp 300,000 to the winner who could down a 600 ml bottle of ‘jamu’ without vomiting. AN, unaware of the deadly secret, took the bet and consumed the poisoned drink.

The Aftermath

AN initially struggled to keep down the drink, hopeful of winning the cash prize. However, she soon stumbled to the bathroom, heaved, and collapsed, succumbing to the toxic effects of the potas. Rika callously left AN to die and, once satisfied that her victim was lifeless, dragged the body to hide it behind a wardrobe.

AN’s mother returned home from her Religious lesson around 3:30 PM and inquired about her daughter’s whereabouts. Rika feigned ignorance and left the house. She then messaged her husband, YA, revealing the drinking contest and mentioning AN was behind the wardrobe.

Arrest and Charges

Rika attempted to flee to Lampung but was apprehended by police in Kelurahan 13 Ilir, Palembang. She now faces an uphill battle to evade a penalty of up to 15 years in prison or even death, charged under the Child Protection Law (UU Perlindungan Anak), Article 338 and/or 340 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on Premeditated Murder.

Motive: A Sinister Case of Revenge

In custody, Rika confessed to police that she harbored grudge against AN, blaming her for frequent taunts about her newborn baby. "The suspect had long been annoyed by the victim, who often ridiculed her about her baby," admitted Head of Palembang Metro Police, Kombes Harryo Sugihhartono.

Investigators procured evidence through AN’s phone and computer logs, confirming Rika had ordered the potassium carbonate online on December 2, 2024. Police believe Rika mixed the entire package into the 600 ml water bottle AN drank.

The Palembang Metropolitan Police urges anyone with information about this case to come forward and assist in delivering justice for AN.

Father Unconvinced by DNA Results: Bayi ‘Ternukar’ Saga Continues

Article:

In a surprising turn of events, the father of a newborn baby who passed away at the Rumah Sakit Islam Jakarta (RSIJ) Cempaka Putih, Jakarta, has expressed dissatisfaction with the DNA test results that suggest his child was not swapped. The baby’s father, Muhammad Rauf, spoke out at a press conference held at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Rauf, 27, stated that he was not content with the DNA test results, which suggested that the baby was indeed his biological child. He cited several reasons for his dissatisfaction, including the lack of access to the baby’s medical records and CCTV footage from the time of the incident.

"I’m not satisfied. I haven’t been given the baby’s medical records or the CCTV footage," Rauf revealed during the press conference. He further mentioned that he had previously requested these documents from the hospital during the initial mediation process, but his requests were not taken seriously.

Rauf explained that he wanted to retrieve the baby’s medical records personally from the hospital. However, due to the viral nature of the case and their ongoing work commitments, he and his wife have not yet had the chance to collect the documents.

In response to Rauf’s claims, the Director of RSIJ Cempaka Putih, Jack Pradono Handojo, stated that the hospital had only offered to provide the baby’s medical records during the third mediation session. According to Jack, this offer was made under the condition that the family agree to have the CCTV footage handed over as well.

However, Jack did not explicitly confirm whether the hospital had offered the medical records earlier in the mediation process. He merely stated that the hospital had followed standard operating procedures throughout the case.

In a contrasting statement, the Police have confirmed that the DNA test results, conducted by the Police Laboratory of Forensic Medicine, indicate that the baby was indeed Rauf’s biological child. The Police have stated that they are 100% confident that the baby was not swapped.

The Police also addressed the issue of the baby’s medical records and CCTV footage, stating that they had obtained and reviewed these documents. However, they did not provide further details on their findings.

This ongoing saga has captured the public’s attention, with many following the developments closely. As the case continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether Rauf will accept the DNA test results or continue to pursue his suspicions.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Subtitle: Indonesian authorities probe possible swap at state-run hospital

Introduction

In a shocking turn of events, Indonesian police have launched an investigation into the suspected mix-up of a newborn baby who died at the Cempaka Putih Regional Specialty and Referral Hospital (RSIJ) in Jakarta. The baby’s family alleges that their child was swapped with another, raising serious questions about the hospital’s protocols and practices.

The Incident

The incident came to light when the family of the deceased baby, identified only as ‘A’, noticed discrepancies between their child and the one they were told had passed away. The family had given birth to a baby girl, but the baby they were handed was a boy. Upon further inspection, they also found that the baby’s birthmark did not match their child’s.

The family immediately raised their concerns with the hospital, but they were allegedly dismissed and told to sign documents stating that the baby they received was indeed theirs. However, the family refused and decided to take legal action, leading to the police investigation.

Police Investigation

The Jakarta Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Reskrim) has taken up the case and is currently investigating the allegations. They have secured the CCTV footage from the hospital and are questioning the hospital staff involved in the case.

"We are currently investigating the case from all angles," said a spokesperson for the Jakarta Police. "We are looking into the possibility of a mix-up, as well as any other potential criminal acts."

Hospital’s Response

The Cempaka Putih RSIJ has acknowledged the incident and expressed their condolences to the family. However, they have denied any wrongdoing and insist that the baby handed over to the family was indeed theirs.

"The hospital follows strict protocols to prevent such incidents," said a spokesperson for the hospital. "We are cooperating fully with the police investigation and are confident that the truth will come out."

Public Outcry

The incident has sparked outrage among the Indonesian public, with many calling for stricter regulations and better training for hospital staff to prevent such tragedies. Some have also called for the hospital’s license to be revoked if they are found guilty.

Conclusion

The suspected mix-up of a newborn baby at the Cempaka Putih RSIJ is a tragic and unacceptable incident that has raised serious questions about the hospital’s practices. The police investigation is ongoing, and the public awaits the results with bated breath. Regardless of the outcome, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of stringent protocols and rigorous training in healthcare facilities to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
