The capital can expect 5-10 centimeters of snow, with heavier accumulations in the mountains and potentially in Innlandet too. Bergen, however, might just escape the whiteout, says duty meteorologist Signe Auganæs.

After the polar low has passed, a long and chilly period is forecast for Sør-Norge. Temperatures could drop as low as -15°C in Østlandet. For Oslo, temperatures may dip to -10°C, but could vary around -5°C. Innlandet, however, might experience lower temperatures, possibly reaching -15°C, warns the meteorologist.

Polar Low Brings Fresh Warnings: Storms and Snowfall Ahead
On Monday, December 30, Norr-Norge experienced some rough weather, with wind gusts reaching storm strength in Bodø. Tromsø also experienced strong gusts. Orange weather warnings are in effect for Nord-Helgeland and Salten from Monday to Tuesday, with heavy snowfall expected – up to 30-60cm in a 24-hour period. Along the coast, some of the precipitation may fall as rain.
New Year’s Weather: Looking Ahead
Meteorologists expect the cold snap to continue into the new year, with the 21-day outlook predicting temperatures well below average in many regions. For the best New Year’s weather, consider visiting Øst-Finnmark, Finnmarksvidda, parts of Troms, and Trøndelag. Svalbard’s Longyearbyen, however, is expected to have the most pleasant New Year’s weather.
