Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that the United States is ramping up its military aid to Ukraine. In his evening address, Zelensky credited the U.S. for increasing supplies, stating that maintaining this pace is crucial to counter Russian offensives.
"Today, I received a briefing from the General Staff and the Minister of Defense. The situation at the front, the supplies, are very significant. Importantly, the United States is increasing its deliveries. I’m grateful to our partners for this. We need these supplies to outpace the Russians’ advance," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president emphasized the need for more military strength and diplomatic leverage. "Every unit, every brigade that ensures this brings us closer to a normal peace," he added.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden had ordered the Pentagon to continue accelerating weapons shipments to Ukraine following Russia’s attacks on December 25. Since then, the U.S. has supplied hundreds of air defense missiles and plans to increase production of advanced weapons, with some intended for Ukraine.
Zelensky’s statement comes amid ongoing military operations and negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. As the conflict persists, international support remains pivotal for Ukraine’s defense and diplomatic efforts.
