Animal Ambulance in South Holland South Targeted in Unusual Attack

An early morning tranquility was shattered in South Holland South on Friday when an animal ambulance operated by the Dutch Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Dierenbescherming) came under an unexpected and unusual attack. A katapult, a type of large, medieval siege weapon, was used to target the vehicle.

The ambulance sustained damage, but in a fortunate turn of events, the drivers escaped unharmed,voiding what could have been a potentially grave situation. Added relief comes from the fact that no animals were on board the vehicle at the time of the attack.

The Dierenbescherming, the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the Netherlands, operates animal ambulances to transport animals to and from shelters, veterinary clinics, and foster homes. This extraordinary incident marks a significant departure from the organization’s typical daily operations.

Local law enforcement has been notified and investigations are currently underway to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the attack.
