The Jenna Ortega–led show is finally back on Netflix this month. “It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two,” showrunners and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar told Tudum.com at the time of its renewal. “We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”</p>
Below, a brand-new trailer, details on Lady Gaga’s appearance, and everything else we know about the goth girl’s next semester at Nevermore Academy, straight from Enid’s gossip blog.
Wednesday is back at Nevermore of her own free will, and she’s got stans now. Peers are lining up to get her autograph, and she’s ripping fan art of herself off the walls. But she’s got more problems to worry about than her popularity, especially after she starts crying black tears after receiving a vision in which she’s responsible for her roomie Enid’s death. Morticia declares that she will “not let history repeat itself” as a remix of The Phantom of the Opera plays. And Wednesday also seems pretty committed to investigating dark secrets, which she describes as the bedrock of the Addams family. “The sooner I get answers, the sooner I can save Enid,” she says. “Or die trying.”
The Addams family is heading to Nevermore: Pugsley is enrolling this school year (“an outcast among outcasts,” says Burton), and Morticia and Gomez are hanging out on campus — it’s Wednesday’s nightmare; in a BTS feature, you can see Zeta-Jones practicing her fencing skills. However, not all has become hell, her grandmama Hester Frump shows up and is one of the few people that Wednesday appreciates. We also get an early answer to an important question: What does Wednesday do during the summer?
Good question. Netflix unveiled the cast list for the upcoming season on May 7, and three series regulars have vanished from the roster. Jenna Ortega will return as the titular Addams Family character, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Morticia and Gomez Addams, respectively. Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Joy Sunday, and Isaac Ordonez will reprise their roles, adding Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor as series regulars. Guest stars include Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, and Christopher Lloyd, who’s known for his role as Fester in the ’90s movies.
Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, and Naomi J. Ogawa will not return to Wednesday as main cast members, Deadline confirmed. McShane, who plays Sheriff Donovan Galpin, will solely appear as a guest star, likely wrapping up last season’s story line involving his son Tyler (Hunter Doohan). Otherwise, Hynes White and Ogawa have exited the show altogether.
Lady Gaga is confirmed to be making a cameo appearance in the show’s second season, after Wednesday’s dance went viral on TikTok with a sped-up version of Gaga’s 2011 song “Bloody Mary.” The dance was originally scored to “Goo Goo Muck” by the Cramps, but it will eternally live on in the popular imagination as a Gaga moment. We hope this appearance gets the chance to go viral, as well, but we’ll see if TikTok even exists in the U.S. by the time the show comes out.
Gaga will be playing Rosaline Rotwood, “a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.” Hopefully they can do a little dance together.
In January 2023, a Twitter user accused Hynes White of sexually assaulting her at a party while she was drunk, claiming he assaulted multiple women and allegedly threw parties where he provided underage girls with drugs and alcohol to have sex with them. The actor denied the allegations in June 2023 with a statement posted on Instagram. “Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online,” reads the statement, “Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats. Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful.” Hynes White also denied broader allegations of misogyny and racism.
The season will be released in two parts this summer: Part one drops on August 6, and part two drops on September 3. No better time for a back-to-school show.

The Enduring Appeal of Wednesday and Gothic Aesthetics
The world has fallen for Wednesday Addams. The Netflix series, starring Jenna Ortega, has not only captivated audiences but also sparked a renewed interest in gothic themes. From fashion to music, the show’s influence is undeniable. But what does this resurgence mean for the future of television and entertainment?
The Rise of Anti-Heroines
Wednesday, with her sharp wit, independent spirit, and unapologetic darkness, represents a significant shift in how we view female leads. She isn’t your typical damsel; she’s a complex character who defies expectations. The success of Wednesday demonstrates a growing audience demand for anti-heroines – characters who challenge conventional norms and embrace their flaws.
Consider the data: According to a recent study by the Nielsen ratings, viewership for shows featuring strong female leads has increased by 30% in the last year. This signals a trend of audiences seeking narratives that reflect a more diverse range of personalities and perspectives.
In the age of online content, the influence of TikTok on media trends and TV series popularity is undeniable. The platform has facilitated the virality of “Wednesday” and has played a pivotal role in the success of the series. The Intersection of Gothic and Modernity
What makes Wednesday so compelling is its ability to blend gothic elements with modern sensibilities. The show incorporates contemporary issues, diverse characters, and relevant social commentary. This is key to its enduring appeal.
