Zeekr New Zealand is set to double its range with three new models.
Zeekr 9X Super Hybrid Targeting Ultra-Luxury Segment
The 9X acts as both a super-luxury model and a technology flagship for the brand. The vehicle is available in dual-motor or tri-motor specifications, with the dual-motor layout delivering 600kW and 935Nm of torque, while the tri-motor version generates an incredible 1030kW and 1410Nm.
The model is a super hybrid, pairing a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with either a 55kWh or 70kWh battery, yielding 179-300km electric range. “But if you need to go long distances, you’ve got 1000km on one tank and charge.” The system also charges the battery at 20kW using the motor to regenerate.
Pro Tip: Interested buyers can register for updates around the 9X and 8X luxury SUVs, as well as the 7GT wagon.
Zeekr 8X Joins Lineup as Sportier Alternative
Positioned slightly below its larger stablemate, the 8X shares the same platform and dual and tri-motor super hybrid powertrains as the 9X. According to Michael Jones, the 8X is characterised as “slightly smaller and more of a sporty orientation”. At 5100m in length it’s hardly compact, but still 139mm shorter than the 9X and is expected to compete against potential rivals like the Range Rover Sport and Audi Q7 when it arrives in NZ no earlier than 2027.
Zeekr 7GT Wagon Expands the Range
The top dual-motor AWD gets the bigger battery and can achieve 558km.
“I think wagons are making a comeback,” Michael Jones said, noting the vehicle will pull volume from something like a Tesla Model 3, but also pull down from established premium brands.
Local Sales Growth and Future Projections
The 7X (which arrived post-brand-launch last year) has been a real success story, outperforming all of the German premium cars in its space, outselling Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3, according to company figures. Moving forward, the brand is forecasting 1500 sales overall in NZ for 2027.
