Culiacán’s Municipal Police Commander Fatally Shot on Way to Work; Suspects at Large

Culiacán Under Siege: Armed Group Assassinates Culiacán Police Commander

The quietneurs of Culiacán were shattered when a group of armed assailants brutally gunned down Juan Carlos "N", the Commander and Operational Supervisor of the Culiacán Municipal Police. The horrifying incident took place on the bustling Boulevard Las Torres in the Barrancos neighborhood, located on the city’s south-western fringe.

According to witness reports, Juan Carlos, who had recently been relieved of his command at the Sanalona police base, was driving home when he was pursued by several men in two SUVs. In a desperate attempt to evade his pursuers, he sped onto the busy boulevard, but his vehicle was riddled with bullets, causing him to crash into a utility pole and lose his life.

The police vehicle bore the brunt of the attack, with bullets shattering windows, doors, and the engine. Despite attempts to evade the assailants, Juan Carlos’ vehicle careened out of control and slammed into the pole.

Investigations led by federal agencies have revealed that the late commander, Juan Carlos "N", was allegedly linked to a criminal group known as "Julieta". This syndicate is reportedly under the influence of a notorious figure known only as "Juanito", who operates under the notorious "Chapitos" umbrella.

Tragically, this is not an isolated incident. Just last month, police officers from the State Preventive Police were targeted in a deadly ambush on Avenida Aeropuerto. The attack, which left one officer dead, was aimed at Commander Alberto Castro, better known within the ranks as "El Caiman".

Asieving calm amidst these escalating incidents remains a pressing challenge for the authorities in Culiacán. The city, and indeed the entire region, yearns for stability and security, with residents awaiting resolute action from the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace.
