The event gives families an opportunity to learn about mental health resources while reminding parents and loved ones they are not alone. Meghan Luebbert, chair of The Climb and a psychiatric nurse practitioner, said the gathering is designed for everyone, including mothers, fathers, children, family members, friends, and mental health providers.

Specialized Care Gaps Persist Across Nebraska

Organizers highlighted significant challenges in connecting Nebraska families with specialized care. Emily Goodman, founder of the Nebraska chapter and its current education co-chair, stated that about 24,000 babies are born in the state each year. However, only 232 professionals have received specialized certification through Postpartum Support International, a total that includes about 135 behavioral health providers.

Goodman also noted that Nebraska lacks a formalized or standardized referral system for people who may need additional treatment after undergoing a mental health screening. To help address these resource gaps, The Climb serves as the Nebraska chapter’s largest fundraiser, supporting expanded education, screening, and family resources across the state.
