Explosion and Fire at Cottage in Øyer: Four Hospitalized, One in Serious Condition
In a dramatic turn of events, a fire erupted at a cottage in Øyer municipality, Innlandet, at 02:39. An explosion at the scene has left four people hospitalized, with one in serious condition. Operations leader Bård Einar Hoft confirmed that fireworks were involved, but the exact cause of the blaze remains uncertain.
"It’s unknown what started the fire, whether it was the fireworks that ignited or the fireworks were set off due to the blaze," Hoft told Nettavisen. The powerful explosion left parts of the cottage’s wall blasted in, indicating significant force.
Four of the five individuals present at the scene were taken to a nearby health center for check-ups, while one was transported to Lillehammer Hospital with more serious injuries.
Fire services have managed to contain the fire.
