The educators express concern over public narratives that could skew the perception of medical professionals. Trust in healthcare workers remains vital for effective healthcare delivery, and misconceptions can have long-term negative impacts on public health outcomes.

Call for Reforms and Improvements

Restoring the Function of Collegium

The faculty urges the government to restore the collegium’s role to its independent and professional capacity, advocating for decisions made based on expertise rather than external influences.

Rebuilding Critical Partnerships

Reviving productive collaborations among the Ministry of Health, educational bodies, and medical faculties is essential. This rebuilding would help assure the quality and consistency of medical education.

Upholding the Status of Medical Professionals

There is an appeal for recognizing the valuable contribution of healthcare workers, ensuring they are respected and compensated fairly in accordance with their strategic roles in national health.

Fostering a Healthy Academic Environment

Encouraging open dialogue and maintaining ethical communication within academic circles are crucial for continuous improvements in medical education and practice.

FAQ Section

What are the implications of losing collegium independence?

Losing independency may affect the quality of medical education oversight and undermine the credibility of professional standards.

How does the sudden reallocation of medical staff impact education?

It disrupts the continuity in teaching and training for medical specialists, potentially lowering both education and healthcare standards.

Her return to campus in late July has raised questions about the incident and its aftermath.

According to Gibson Girsang, the Head of Public Relations at RSUD Pirngadi Medan, F was sent back to her university due to interpersonal issues with her peers. While he didn’t elaborate on the specifics, Girsang confirmed that the decision was made in late July.

The incident occurred on December 19, when F allegedly assaulted Fitra Samosir, a 26-year-old roti bakar vendor. The incident took place at Fitra’s workplace on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan in Medan Timur.

Earlier in the day, F had purchased a chocolate cheese roti bakar from Fitra. However, later that evening, F returned and threw two leftover pieces of roti bakar at Fitra, who was left with lacerations on his hand and forehead. Fitra later filed a police report (STTLP/B/3609/XII/2024/SPKT) detailing the incident.

This is not F’s first run-in with the law. In 2023, she was involved in a dispute with a couple in the parking lot of RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan over a parking spot, which was later resolved through mediation.

Medan Police Chief Kombes Gidion Arif Setyawan confirmed receiving Fitra’s report and stated that the police are currently investigating the incident. Gidion also revealed that he had spoken with Fitra via video call and observed bruising around his eye.

As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how this will impact F’s academic career and her relationship with her peers. Follow us for updates on this developing story.
