Wanted Man Surrenders to Police in Klepp Shooting Case
The man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a police officer in Klepp has turned himself in to authorities, police confirm. The suspect, identified as Geir Roald Hodne (41), was sought after for allegedly driving off with Hodne from a Circle K gas station in Klepp following the deadly shooting incident that occurred overnight Friday into Saturday.
In a statement released Thursday, Vest police district announced that the suspect had surrendered and will be questionned later in the day. "He will be interrogated according to plan later today," the statement reads.
Hodne, who was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with police, is currently suspected of murder and two attempted murders. He is also suspected of gross threats. The deceased police officer has been identified as Markus Botnen (25), who was employed with Sør-Vest police district.
Police confirm they have received preliminary autopsy reports but declined to comment on their contents at this time. Vest police district is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting, with assistance from the Specialized Unit and the Norwegian Police Service’s Investigation and Security Division.
