Coronavirus: Kurz, Austria has entered the second wave – Europe

(ANSA) – VIENNA, 13 SEPT – Austria has entered the second wave of coronavirus infections. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said in a statement, while the number of daily infections continues to rise. From Friday to Saturday, the country of 9 million people registered about 870 new cases, more than half of them in Vienna.

“We are at the beginning of the second wave,” Kurz said, warning that the country will quickly exceed 1,000 new cases per day and urging the population to strictly comply with anti-virus measures and to reduce contact as much as possible.

Starting tomorrow, the masks will be mandatory, as well as in supermarkets and public transport, also in all shops and public buildings. Kurz warned not to rule out new restrictions if the number of cases continues to grow, while hoping to be able to avoid a second lockdown.

Since the start of the pandemic, Austria has recorded 33,000 cases and 750 deaths. (HANDLE).
