2025 Hajj Fees to Decrease: Government and Parliament to Set Rate Today

Breaking News: pilgrimage fee for Hajj 1446 H/2025 M dropped

The Jakarta Post – 6 January 2025

Jakarta, Indonesia – In a blink of optimism for potential Hajj pilgrims, the Indonesian government and the House of Representatives (DPR) have reached a consensus, reducing the proposed fee for Hajj 1446 H/2025 M.

In today’s hearing, Dirjen Penyelenggaraan Haji and Umrah (PHU) of Indonesia’s Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), Hilman Latief, introduced a new proposal of Rp 89.666.469,26 for the Biaya Penyelenggaraan Ibadah Haji (BPIH) costs for the upcoming pilgrimage. This new figure is a significant drop from the previously suggested Rp 93.3 million.

Breaking down the new proposal, the Bipih (biaya haji yang dibayar jemaah, or the fee paid by pilgrims) is Rp 55.593.201,57, making up 62% of the total BPIH, with the remaining 38% being the allocated value (nilai manfaat) for the pilgrims.

The posterior figures are computed as follow:

  • Airfare from embarkation to Arabia (biaya penerbangan) – Rp 33.100.000,00
  • Accommodation in Makkah – Rp 14.775.478,21
  • Accommodation in Madinah – Rp 4.517,720,86
  • Living expenses (living cost) – Rp 3.200.002,50

At the close of the December 2024 review, Ministry of Religion’s head Nasaruddin Umar announced the proposed average BPIH at Rp 93.389.684,99, with Bipih at 70% of that fee. However, Deputy Minister for Minority Religious Affairs, H.R. Muhammad Syafi’i, hinted at a potential reduction, suggesting a 60:40 ratio between Bipih and added value.

Meanwhile, the DPR’s schedule includes a joint meeting at 15.30 WIB, slated to finalize the Hajj 1446 H/2025 M arrangements. The meeting outlines the presentation of findings, input gathering from all DPR factions, and ultimately, ratification and official announcement of the BPIH rate for the year 2025.

The reduce fee is set to alleviate the financial burden on Indonesian pilgrims who embark on this sacred journey, fostering more optimism and accessibility for this year’s Hajj.
