69% of people believe the president’s decision not to invite all parliamentarians to the reception was correct

Since this year the president decided not to invite ordinary members of the Riigikogu to the reception on the occasion of the anniversary of the Republic, the non-governmental Institute for Social Studies asked participants in the latest survey whether they believe this decision is correct . On the same topic, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced today that, as a sign of solidarity with the members of the Riigikogu, he will not attend the president’s reception.

Respondents were asked: “Do you think it is right that the president decided to invite only the Riigikogu council, committee chairmen, vice presidents and faction leaders to the president’s reception instead of all members of the Riigikogu?” said “Yes” or “Somewhat yes,” 14% said “Somewhat no” or “No,” and 17% said “I can’t say.”

According to party preferences, 87% of Isamaa, 78% of Estonia 200, 70% of SDE, 68% of Reform Party, 61% of EKRE and 60% of Party supporters of the center believe the president’s decision was right. Across all socio-demographic groups there is a preponderance of respondents who believe the president’s decision was correct.

The survey was conducted online by Norstat Eesti AS and a total of 1,008 respondents participated.
