A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON A SLIPPERY SIDEWALK ⟩ A 13-year-old schoolboy broke his femur after falling in the center of Viljandi

Maarika’s son started going to school on Wednesday morning, but unfortunately fell at the roundabout near Ugala theatre. All this was witnessed by a passer-by who rushed to help the child.

“A kind man saw the fall as he passed by, took a detour to Ugala club, parked his car at the bus stop and offered to take the boy to school.”

However, Maarika’s son did not go to school.

“The boy couldn’t get up…the gentleman called an ambulance and was waiting. I would like to thank him so much!” says Maarika, who is now looking on social media for a willing man who will thank him face to face.

The fall was so unfortunate that Marika’s 13-year-old son was taken to the University of Tartu clinic, where he underwent surgery. “He has a displaced fracture of the neck of the femur, two screws have been installed.” Maarika cites what she has heard from doctors and says that such a fracture is extremely rare.

“There will be great pain, rehabilitation, trips to Tartu and check-ups,” says an anguished Maarika, who also photographed the slippery ice on site.

Only on Tuesday Tartu Postimees wrote about how an 11-year-old schoolboy was hit by ice falling from a roof in the city center.

Also in this case the person in need of help was noticed by a random passerby: a woman who was passing by helped call the ambulance for the child. Siim Linnard, head of the Tartu regional police, said most people turn to the municipality for matters of good order, whose supervisory board also initiates proceedings in case of violations, but sometimes the police are also informed.
