Aldo Järvsoo: black is finally in fashion | Art

The “OP” cultural program was attended by EKA fashion professor Piret Puppart and stylist Aldo Järvsoo, with whom they discussed what to wear for the upcoming end-of-year parties.

According to Piret Puppart, the holiday is not disappearing forever, but people have started to make more sustainable choices. “It seems to me that a more minimalist general attitude has begun to spread towards our lives, our choices, but also towards the living spaces in which we nest, of what can be housed there. This is bringing its corrections among consumers in a given segment.”

Therefore, women often replace high heels with more comfortable shoes and even sneakers for formal wear. “I have noticed and perceived that we have started to invest more in jewelery – large earrings, brooches, even for men – so this balance has moved away from shoes. If otherwise it were said that wearing heels lengthens the body and the silhouette, when we wear the focus on the jewels also helps to visually play with the silhouette a bit,” Puppart said.

Wedding dresses are also ordered from Aldo Järvsoo with the assumption that sneakers can also be worn. “They still say that we will make the dress so long that after a while I can take off my heels and put on sneakers. Especially if there is a floor-length dress, no one will even notice – let the dress drag a un bit at the end, but you yourself must be comfortable. And considering that most weddings in Estonia take place in summer and in nature, you can take photos in heels on the grass, but you can’t spend the whole evening on the grass on heels.”

Piret Puppart added that sneaker manufacturers have also seized the opportunity here. “These sneaker manufacturers are not stupid either, they understand that their field is expanding. And they offer a lot of different versions. There was a time when you really couldn’t find suitable shades or materials, something that you inspired, but now that choice has become very broad, especially if we think about a sneaker aimed at women. It’s not a very old topic to design a sneaker specifically for women: Reebok had the first sneakers aimed at women in the ’80s,” Puppart recalled.

Aldo Järvsoo added that the color black will definitely be in fashion this winter. “At the last parties I went to, 90% of the women wore black. So now you can feel free to wear black – you’ve wanted it your whole life, now wear it.” Furthermore, he suggested preferring a more festive style when going to a party. “My suggestion is to wear clothes that are a little more festive than you originally intended, so you can be sure that you will get compliments and people who came in very casual clothes will regret it,” he mused.
