A post from an electric car owner is circulating on social media claiming that Tõrva’s Enefit Volt charger broke his car. More specifically, a shot is said to have been fired during the loading process. The car’s owner initially noticed nothing unusual after the blast, but by the next morning the car’s battery was reportedly completely dead and the vehicle would no longer start.

According to the advertiser, the car was damaged in such a way that its repair will cost around 18,000 euros. Kert Pääbo, head of business development at Volt, explained to Autogenius that even before the Tõrva incident, their chargers were equipped with various controls and protections that ensure that customers’ cars are not damaged while charging.

Despite this, the company investigated whether and how a specific charge could have caused damage to the car.
