BaltCap, the leading private equity management company in the Baltics, has purchased VKG Elektrivõrgud, the second largest electricity distribution network company in Estonia. The new owner sees considerable potential in the further development of the network company and wants to offer, in addition to network services, other electricity and network-related services.
Ivo Järvala will continue to lead VKG Elektrivõrgud and the company’s new board will begin work, including BaltCap Chief Investment Officer Marek-Andres Kauts, BaltCap Managing Partner Simonas Gustainis and BaltCap Chief Investment Officer Kristjan-Mart Piirsalu.
“Ida-Virumaa is the historical center of Estonian industry, where significant changes are taking place as a result of the green revolution. To cover the needs of residents and businesses in Ida-Virumaa, we see the potential to horizontally expand VKG Elektrivõrgud’s activities in sectors such as renewable energy production and storage, electric car charging, telecommunications and street lighting solutions,” said Marek-Andres Kauts, head of investments at BaltCap.
