What Radev said in a comment about the activities of the Notary:

When asked about the rotation of the government, which is coming in March, the head of state replied that when it comes to it, he will fulfill his obligations under the constitution, hold consultations with the political forces and hand over the mandate to form a government to GERB.

You can watch the full recording of Rumen Radev’s briefing in Bansko here:
Asked to comment on whether the prime minister should also be the minister of foreign affairs, Radev first said that he did not want to interfere in the work of the government, and then added: “What remains as an impression from all the fuss over this issue is, that it doesn’t matter so much who the pawns on the power board will be in the role of ministers, because the decisions are made by other people elsewhere.”
The real topic of the day is the case of Martin Bojanov-Notary,” President Rumen Radev said today to journalists in Bansko and added: “I will use all the tools available to the presidential institution to insist that this case be resolved this time to the end.”

“You can be a broker between the mafia and the judiciary only with political protection”

“The destruction of this case is the bet whether Bulgaria will continue to develop as a democratic and legal state. All talk of constitutional reform and a legal state crashes in the reality in which Martin Bojanov could have been a broker between the mafia and the judiciary, only with political protection,” Radev also said.

“Either we will tear the net in which the mafia has entangled us, or this net will suffocate the state. That is why an operation is needed to detoxify the institutions entangled in criminal addictions. This is a real test for the judiciary, the government and the National Assembly. They now they have a great chance to put Bulgaria on a new path, but if they fail, it means that they either cannot or do not want to deal with the mafia,” added Radev. He was not asked, nor did he decide to comment on what was done during his official governments regarding the activities of Martin Bojanov.
“If even now the institutions allow this case to be suppressed and the state to be entangled in dependencies, this government cannot last long,” said Radev. Martin Bojanov was killed last week in Sofia, and after his death it became known that from 2004 until now there are 25 files and pre-trial proceedings in which he was accused, complainant or witness. He is also being investigated within the framework of pre-trial proceedings in the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office for an organized criminal group created for the purpose of pressure on magistrates, property fraud, money laundering.
