Benghazi, February 25, 2024 (Al-Anbaa Libya) – The international arena is witnessing an opening with global economic reforms, the most prominent role in which is the exchange rate, which is the real influence on the economy’s competitive ability, in order to achieve a fair balance of payments, in addition to being the decision-maker in economic variables.

In light of the exchange rate fluctuations that Libya is witnessing, as a rentier country, due to its greater dependence for public income on black gold, and despite the resource boom and scarcity of productive capabilities to provide alternative sources of income, and the media momentum regarding economic development plans.

Among these fluctuations, the exchange rate in the parallel market remains the focus of constant disagreement and controversy.

But there is a question: What is the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the stability of the Libyan currency, amid the inflation that the world is experiencing and the weakening of the local currency in a single-income country?
On this topic, the Libyan newspaper “Al-Anbaa” had this poll.

A percentage of (60%) of citizens believe that the parallel market’s control over the exchange rate is due to the division that the Central Bank is suffering from, while (20%) ind

Oil shaken by possible ceasefire in Gaza, but gaining ground

Oil prices ended a highly volatile session on Monday, punctuated by announcements related to the situation in Gaza and a possible ceasefire.

The price of a barrel of North Sea Brent crude for July delivery rose 0.44% to close at $83.33.

The American barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), expiring in June, gained 0.47% to $78.48.

Black gold finally managed to pull off a slight rebound, after hitting its lowest level since mid-March on Friday.

Prices rose early in the session, supported by Israel’s launch of an evacuation operation from the east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah ahead of a possible ground offensive against the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas .

This initiative came a day after the death of four Israeli soldiers, killed by rocket fire from the armed wing of Hamas around the main crossing point for humanitarian aid from Israel to Gaza.

But the momentum suddenly evaporated with the announcement of Hamas’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal in the framework of mediation between Egypt, Qatar and the United States, although on Sunday in Cairo a round of indirect negotiations ended without any progress.

“This has put oil under pressure,” commented Mizuho’s Robert Yawger.

Crude oil prices also turned negative for a short time before r

Switching from private to statutory health insurance: Here’s how it works
– 2024-05-07 00:01:39

The path from statutory to private health insurance is easy – if you earn enough. The way back is anything but trivial. And yet there are ways to do this.

Faster appointments, individual and extensive treatment options – this is where private health insurance companies (PKV) score points. But this scope of services needs to be paid for. Contributions increase as you get older. In addition, children must be insured individually with private companies, while they are insured free of charge in family insurance with statutory health insurance (GKV).

For some people, private insurance can sooner or later become a financial burden. But how do you actually get from private health insurance back to statutory health insurance? Experts provide answers.

With a loss of income, back to compulsory insurance

“Anyone who has decided on the PKV system can only switch back to the GKV under very strictly regulated requirements,” says Kai Behrens from the AOK Federal Association. One option is to become insured again. This happens, for example, when gross income falls below a certain limit. For 2024 that is 69,300 euros per year or 5,775 euros per month. Anyone who earns three months below this limit can return to statutory health insurance – if
