President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) comments on the growing number of plant closures in numerous industry subsectors, including Bata shoesearlier this year, even as Indonesia’s economy grew 5.11% in the first quarter of 2024.
“This happens if the problem is that a factory closes, a business goes up and down because of competition, maybe because of efficiency, because it competes with new and better products, many things,” he said after the inauguration of the Indonesia Digital Test House (IDTH), Tapos, Depok, West Java, Tuesday (7/5).
“But what is clear from a macro perspective is that our economic growth is very good, at 5.11%,” he continued.
