Chancellor Vseviov in Vilnius: We must increase the price of war unbearably for the Russians

“Ukraine’s future is in NATO, but we need to take sufficient steps in Washington for this message to finally reach the Kremlin,” Chancellor Vseviov said at the snow meeting.

In the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Jonas Survila, the increasing cost of war for Russia was discussed. “We must break Putin’s winning theory that time is in his favor. Neighboring countries must act as indicators and, before the second anniversary of the Great War approaches, they must more actively demand the following sanctions and the use of assets frozen goods from Russia,” Vseviov said.

In the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Simonas Šatūnas we also talked about what is happening in the European Union, in particular support for Ukraine. “Efforts must be made in the Union to implement the ammunition initiative and we must also reach an agreement on financial support for Ukraine,” the Chancellor underlined.

Furthermore, Vseviov gave a lecture at the European Humanitarian University in Belarus on the topic of responsibility and defending a rules-based world. More than 1,200 young Belarusians study at the Belarusian Non-State University in Exile in Vilnius, the university’s activities are also supported by Estonia.

The Chancellor also went to the Lithuanian-Belarusian border to learn about the new infrastructure of the Medininkai border crossing, the work of the Padvarionys surveillance center and the fence built on the snow-covered green border after the hybrid crisis that began in 2021.

The snow meeting will take place this year for the 17th time, according to tradition, in Vilnius and Trakai in January. At the international conference, politicians, senior officials and academics will discuss current foreign and security policy issues.
