In the first minutes of Saturday, a post with a photo was published on the Facebook page of EKRE’s North Tallinn district, where party members invite people to come to them to distribute candy to them on the occasion of the holiday. “Dear children and dear adults, if you have behaved well this year, feel free to ask the elves for candy!” we read at the beginning of the post.
“On Sunday 17 December, next to the Stroom center between 11.30 and 14.00, the EKRE elves (sic!) can be seen distributing sweets to the good residents of the northern part of Tallinn,” it was written. Attached to the post was a photo of four EKRE members, which judging from the background appeared to have been taken in the fall. Leaves can be seen falling to the ground and busy members stand in front of stacks of brochures introducing their party’s politicians. In the photo there is also a small basket, from which a matchbox appears to be protruding.
What made the photo comical is the fact that the four members are thinking about their next vacation PhotoshopElf hats are popping up. The cool pixie hats are supposed to hide the members’ normal hats, but in all cases the photo setup was not very successful. The humorous scene is also presented in the comments under the post. “Nice headpiece,” one commenter quipped. “One year Photoshopreward for this call!” I found another one.
The photo also sparked a debate on Twitter (now X) when a user shared a good formula for creating a Christmas post. “How to make a Christmas post? a) take an old photo; B) Photoshopmore elf hats; c) invite good children to make sweets; d) forget about turning matches into candy,” he wrote in his tweet, which gave rise to a lively exchange of ideas on both the comedy scene and the tongue twister.
One lucky tweeter even managed to receive the promised candy. Furthermore, he scored a box of matches from EKRE members.
