colorful locals, emeralds, guerrillas, cocoa and a car falling apart – TV3

According to Raivo Malter, alias Onu Raiu, who has been traveling around the world by car for a dozen years, this time the Republic of Colombia or Colombia was chosen as the destination, because there is much more to learn about this country.

“We have heard about drug wars in the past, but it would be exciting to have an idea of what life is like there today and what is happening in the country. Furthermore, Colombia is crossed by the Andes mountain range, which makes the local nature very varies. It can be cold at altitude, but hot on the plains. From the past we also have some experience with the Spanish language and the recognition that the people are very friendly and helpful.”

Four men are on tour in Colombia: uncle Raiu, creator of the plan, master Tambet, long-time traveling companion, Aigar, communicator and magician, and Karl, cameraman. A real-life adventure awaits you, where, as you walk and interact with people, you will find yourself in special places, such as a cocoa plantation or an emerald mine. The exciting street life and diverse nature enchant adventurers everywhere; even where the roads end or you have to stay overnight in unexpected places. The delicious Colombian cuisine and friendly people lift your spirits even when the country begins to rebel and you are afraid to continue the adventure or return home.

“The border areas of the countries bordering Colombia are still a bit gray and under the control of the local guerrillas, and it also happened that we ended up in a dangerous place, where even our car broke down a bit. When we reached cell phone coverage, we received a series of messages from the owner of the car telling us to quickly leave the area and seek police protection and a place to stay,” Malter describes, adding: “One thing is certain: the Colombia has become a country I want to return to, because it is beautiful, clean, cheap and welcoming.”

“There and Back: Driving to Colombia” starts today at 9pm on TV3. Raivo Malter is also in the village in “Studio” starting today at 7.30pm.
