Could Estonia use nuclear energy?

This year the Riigikogu will have to take a position on the introduction of nuclear energy.

At the beginning of the seminar, speakers will be Anna Hajduk Bradford, representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Reelika Runnel, coordinator of the National Working Group on Nuclear Energy, who will introduce the report published last December on energy atomic possibility of introducing nuclear energy to Estonia.

Ainar Sepnik, president of the Viru-Nigula city council, explains the local government’s point of view on a possible nuclear power plant, and Kalev Kallemets, president of the board of directors of Fermi Energia, presents the promoter’s point of view. Madis Vasser, representative of the Estonian Chamber of Environmental Associations, will also speak.

After the presentations, representatives of the parliamentary parties will discuss the feasibility and suitability of nuclear energy in Estonia. Mario Kadastik (Reform Party), Toomas Uibo (200 Estonian), Priit Lomp (Social Democratic Party), Lauri Laats (Center Party), Rain Epler (Estonian Conservative People’s Party) and Riina Solman (Homeland) will discuss.

12.15–13.30 debate by representatives of parliamentary parties on nuclear energy
